ABB’s Measurement & Analytics business launches Endura AZ20 combustion gas analyzers for industrial and utility boiler applications. The Endura AZ20 features a revised sensor design and an increased choice of probe lengths up to 13.12 feet, expanding ABB’s offering for high temperature applications up to 1472 F.
Manufactured using a ceramic-to-steel bonding process, the AZ20 offers improved resistance to thermal stresses and shocks compared to a conventional brazed design, according to ABB. The design enables a wider range of applications subject to sudden variations in process temperature and offers a gas tight bond throughout its operating temperature range. A cell processing technique bonds the multi-layered platinum electrode to the zirconia, allowing the AZ20 to be used in arduous applications such as sulphur recovery processes, crematoria and industrial and clinical waste incineration.
A HART-enabled device, the Endura AZ20 allows operators to perform online modification and monitoring of parameters. Improved process control is ensured by the positioning of the zirconium oxide measuring sensor at the tip of the probe, which is then inserted into the flue duct. This allows direct in-situ measurement and an accurate and immediate oxygen reading for optimizing the combustion control process.
The inclusion of integrated advanced calibration technology automatically controls the test gas flow rate and test gas sequences during calibration testing, eliminating the need for expensive ancillary equipment and preventing incorrect calibrations caused by the loss of test gas.
